Creep It Real With Halloween Decorations For Your Windows And Doors
We may not celebrate Halloween on as big a scale as the US does, but every year seems to be getting bigger over on this side of the Atlantic.
It’s true that everything’s bigger in America, and so while they often favour exaggerated, gruesome displays for Halloween, there are more subtle ways to get into the spirit that are just as spook-tacular.
Autumnal wreath
Some households can’t wait to get their Christmas wreath out from the attic and give their front door a whole new look. Fortunately, you don’t have to wait until December to transform your door.
An autumnal wreath will take you right up to the Christmas period. Whether you choose to get crafty with a wreath-making kit or buy a ready-made wreath from Etsy, your door will be ready and waiting for trick-or-treaters.
Spooky entrance
Your entrance is key to embracing Halloween this 31st of October.
When you think of Halloween, pumpkins spring to mind. A family-friendly activity is visiting a pumpkin patch, carving pumpkins together and displaying them at the entrance of your home.
You’ll find hundreds of stencils online so you don’t need to rely on drawing creative designs freehand. Add battery-powered tea lights for lighting them up when the sun goes down.
Don’t forget about switching up your doormat for a Halloween-themed phrase. You could keep the theme of pumpkins with a friendly ‘Hey, Pumpkin!’ or make entering your home a forbidden task with a ‘Turn back now’ message.
Light it up
Halloween is a great time to spend evenings at home watching spooky classics: Beetlejuice, Scream, A Nightmare on Elm Street, to name a few.
Add to the atmosphere of movie nights by turning off the main lights and relying on string lights around your windows. You can even choose coloured lights in orange or red, which will give your home a warm glow from the inside out.
As for window sills, they can be decorated with fairy lights and candles. Once you have the lighting just right, don’t forget to grab the popcorn!
If thinking about your windows and doors is making you realise you could benefit from an upgrade, get in touch with TWC to discuss how new windows and doors can transform the look of your home.
