TWC Throws Its Support Behind Prospect Hospice

It is with enormous pride that TWC can announce it has chosen the local charity Prospect Hospice to benefit from any fundraising that it undertakes this year.

The hospice was founded in 1980. It offers free and unparalleled end-of-life care services, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to a community of over 300,000 people across the whole of Swindon, North East Wiltshire, Fairford and Lechlade in Gloucestershire.

Roughly £5.5 million of the £7.5 million that the charity raises each year to support local people living with a terminal illness comes from the local community via events, fundraisers, raffles and will gifting. For every £1 they raise, 65p goes directly to patient care.

We cannot tell you how thrilled we are about contributing to that, which we’ll be doing by hosting regular events in our brand-new showroom, at what is a difficult time for Prospect Hospice.

The hospice’s income has been severely hit by both the effects of the pandemic and a long-standing freeze on statutory funding (this hasn’t changed for the last nine years).

To meet an increasing need in the community, its services have expanded in recent years. Future service growth will be difficult though, if not impossible, should this income deficit continue, and it could force them to further reduce the number of patients and families they can support.

We wanted to do our bit to help them try to stop that from happening, as we know of so many amazing stories from families who have paid tribute to Prospect Hospice for the outstanding care they have provided to a loved one.

Joseph Heaton, Director at TWC, couldn’t think of a better local charity to support: “We are delighted to be supporting Prospect Hospice. As a local family run company in Swindon we want to give back to the people of this great town and its surrounding areas and want our new showroom to be somewhere that can promote a local charity. We couldn’t think of a more appropriate charity than Prospect Hospice.

“Many of our staff members’ lives have been touched by the incredible work that they carry out and we hope to raise as much money as possible for it. Our first fundraiser will take place at the showroom opening on Saturday 9th July.”

Sheryl Crouch, Head of Income at the hospice, said: “We are thrilled to have been chosen by TWC as their charity to support this year. It comes at a time when our income remains depleted after the impact of the pandemic on our fundraising activities, making it even more special.
