LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR FRONT DOOR RANGES
Replacing your front door is exciting! It’s a chance to completely transform the look of your home but it’s expected that you’ll have questions before committing to a door style. Our showrooms are the very best place to learn more about our door range and you can explore the range in person. Alternatively we’ve answered some of our most commonly asked questions about our doors below.
How do you decide on the best front door for your home?
Our experts will make sure that you pick the perfect front door for your home.
There are several factors that go into finding the best front door for your home from the material you choose to the colour and finishing touches. We offer a range of colours and hardware options so you can create the perfect front door for your home.
At TWC, there are three main choices for your new front door: composite doors, upvc doors and aluminium doors.
Composite doors combine the look of traditional timber but have none of the downsides, requiring little to no maintenance in comparison to the timber doors they imitate. Our composite door range is made up of the industry-leading Forté composite range, designed to keep your home secure and stylish. This range is ideal for homeowners looking to combine security with style.
Our UPVC doors are a classic choice for homeowners across Wiltshire and Oxfordshire thanks to their reliability and versatility. You can create your perfect UPVC door in a range of colours covering everything from Dark Green to Hazy Grey and a range of natural timber finishes for that perfect traditional look.
The other main choice is an aluminium door. This is for homeowners that want a modern look that can only be achieved with an aluminium front door. Our aluminium doors are designed to be secure and energy efficient, available in any RAL colour, and you can craft your perfect front door with TWC.
What is the best colour for my front door?
The best colour will depend on your style and house type.
There’s a lot of information on whether a particular front door will help your house value go up or even bring you good luck, but it really comes down to personal preference and your style.
You’re going to be looking at this door everytime you come home, so we recommend going with the colour that most speaks to you.
We offer a wide range of colours for our UPVC doors and our aluminium doors can be made in any RAL colour.
If you’re looking to create a contrasting entrance, think about whether you want to go for a lighter or darker colour. If your house has light bricks, then a darker coloured door will really stand out and vice versa.
For those looking to make a statement, our bright range of colours, including Dark Red and Chartwell Green, will help your home stand out on the street. Our range of composite front doors include some really bright shades like Stormy Seas, a bright green, and Citrine, which is a bright and sunny yellow.
If you’re looking to make a statement with your front door, our team will be happy to help bring your vision to life.
Do I need to bring measurements to my appointment?
Having some measurements in mind for your appointment is very helpful, but not completely necessary.
While we always appreciate those who come prepared, accurate measurements are not needed for your first appointment as we’ll send a member of our team round to measure up for the perfect fit.
If you’d like to bring measurements to your appointment, it’s important to measure the existing door as long as it’s still fitting well in the frame. If your door has warped or bulged, the measurements won’t be of much use. You could also measure inside the door frame and the complete opening for your door, including the frame.
What would be very helpful for your appointment is photos of your existing door, including any side panels or elements we’d need to take into account, as well as any inspirational photos of doors you like to help get the design process started.
If you’re unsure of what to bring to your appointment or have any questions, give our showroom team a call who will be happy to advise you.
Is it easy to maintain a UPVC front door?
Our UPVC door range requires very little maintenance to keep them looking their best.
Our door range is designed to stand up to whatever weather the season can throw at it. Each door is designed to be long lasting, with a colour that won’t fade and will keep your home warm and secure long after it’s been installed.
As a result of our high-quality manufacturing, maintenance of your front door will be next to none.
To keep the finish looking it’s best all you need is a damp cloth to wipe down the door and clean it, removing any dirt or debris. Be sure when doing this that you use a soft cloth – never use anything abrasive on the door as it could damage the finish or hardware used.
For door furniture, specifically use mildly concentrated hot soapy water and a soft
cloth to wipe surfaces down and then buff dry with a lint free cloth after cleaning.
If you’re unsure of how to care for your door, contact a member of our team who will be happy to advise you.
How do you know if it’s time to replace your front or back door?
If your door has warped, cracked or won’t close then it’s time to replace it.
There are a few telltale signs that your door is no longer working and it’s time to look for a replacement.
If your door is visibly damaged, depending on the extent of it, you should consider replacing your door as a broken exterior door is a serious security concern. Unfortunately, thieves will look for homes that have visibly weaker front doors as an easier target. If your door doesn’t shut correctly or has significant visible damage, we urge you to consider a replacement.
Another sign it’s time to replace your door is if you’ve noticed your energy bills slowly creeping up. Older doors don’t offer a good weatherseal and aren’t as energy efficient as their modern counterparts. With an older inefficient door, you could be letting heat escape, creating draughts in your home and unconsciously adding to your energy bills. Switching to a new energy efficient door could save you money on your bills, especially if your front or back door opens straight into your living space.
Of course, a perfectly good reason to replace your door is to refresh the exterior of your home and increase its kerb appeal. If your current front door doesn’t match your house style, there’s no reason you can’t upgrade to your perfect front door.
